Our approach
Every firm, and everyone in it, is somewhere on a ladder.
Firms adopt AI in stages, and those stages often cannot be skipped. That is true of the firm as a whole, and it is just as true of each person in it. We design for both: the processes leadership wants rebuilt, and the daily habits of the people who do the work. We start from where the firm stands today and help you climb faster than you would alone.
Two routes in
AI enters a firm from the top, through the people, or both. Most engagements need both, and the balance is a design decision we make with you early.
Top-down
Leadership picks a process and we re-engineer it. This suits work where the whole loop can be handed to agents and measured: conversion, filing, monitoring, reporting. It lands quickly, because nobody's habits have to change for it to run.
People-led
In many firms, especially those without a chief AI officer, adoption spreads organically, person by person and use by use. Each person moves through the same stages at their own pace, so this route runs on coaching, visible wins and patience, and it is where the lasting change happens.
How people adopt AI
Watch anyone learn to work with AI and the same five stages appear, each one more useful than the last.
Ask
AI as a better search engine: direct questions, quick factual answers.
Synthesise
Comparing options, summarising documents, explaining reports. This is where AI starts to feel like an analyst.
Create
Original output: emails, presentations, drafts that go through several rounds.
Build
Spreadsheets, tools and small applications. AI becomes a working partner.
Delegate
Standing tasks handed over: monitoring, collecting, acting. AI starts to behave like a member of staff.
Usefulness compounds as people move up, and so does usage: someone at stage five draws on the underlying models hundreds of times more than someone at stage one. Depth of use, more than headcount, is the adoption metric worth watching, and it is why a mandate on its own changes so little. People still have to make the climb, and our job is to make that climb fast.
The foundations
Whichever route you take, most challenges trace back to one of three things, so most engagements start there.
- Availability of the right tools
- Source material the models can read properly
- Working practices that produce the same quality every time
How firms mature
The firm's climb mirrors the personal one, and it moves only as fast as its people do. Each rung holds because the ones below it hold. We will tell you which rung you are on, and we will say so plainly when a step is premature.
Foundations
The right tools available, source material legible, working practices consistent.
Measured process improvement
One bottleneck rebuilt, with the result shown in your numbers before and after.
Skills libraries
Recurring work codified, versioned and curated in-house by trained owners.
Agent-assisted workflows
Agents carrying the mechanical steps, with identity and accountability designed in.
Custom models
Models trained on your material, once the case is proven further down the ladder.
Phased by design
We design towards an end state early, then implement it in phases sized to what the firm can absorb. What already works keeps working until its replacement has proven itself alongside. Some loops end up fully agent-managed; wherever people stay in the loop, the phasing respects the stage they are at. The harder ambitions are captured, sequenced and held until the foundation is solid.
Where engagements fit
Sprints move you up a rung, advisory keeps the climb honest, and fractional roles embed the discipline day to day. Scope is agreed together, case by case, around where you are and where you want to be.
Evidence over assertion
We baseline before we build, test before anything enters your library, and hand over a versioned capability your team runs without us. Better is proven in your numbers.
